Tell a Friend: American Religions at Bates College (TT) [October 20 Deadline]
From Cynthia Baker, on behalf of the search committee
We write to enlist your help in recruiting strong candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Religious Studies position in American Religions/Religion in the Americas at Bates College, a liberal arts college in Lewiston, Maine - on the homeland of the Wabanaki peoples. In the spirit of Bates alums like Drs. Benjamin Elijah Mays and Peter Gomes - after whom buildings are named on our campus - we seek a scholar whose Religious Studies courses will also “contribute, specifically, to Bates’ Programs in American Studies and/or Africana” and whose work demonstrates “excellence in centering issues of race, power, privilege, and colonialism,” along with “an ability to make contributions to the study of African American, African Diasporic, and/or Indigenous religious traditions, perspectives, and experiences, broadly conceived.” The full position ad, with a link for applying, may be found here. The deadline for full consideration is October 20.
We would be deeply grateful if you would share this information widely with your academic networks - or consider applying, yourself, if appropriate. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any of the search committee members:
