This interdisciplinary program aims to advance civil rights research and public history, contributing to the Center's mission to chronicle and share South Carolina's contributions to the Civil Rights Movement.
The program supports scholars working in African American Civil Rights history, offering opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and access to USC’s archival collections. Scholars will receive a competitive salary and a research allowance during their two-year appointment.
Priority Deadline: December 15, 2024 | Final Deadline: January 15, 2025
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (or be ABD) in a humanities, social science, or public health-related field, with strong research interests in civil rights. The program is supported by a grant from the African American Civil Rights Network, administered by the National Park Service.
To apply, submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, three professional references, and a research proposal detailing civil rights-related research to be conducted during the fellowship. Research should focus on African American civil rights history and explore new directions in the field.
